The City of Edmond is in Oklahoma County, in the Oklahoma City metro area and Central time zone and was named for Colonel Eddy B. Townsend, an early "legal" settler.

The City of Edmond's website has an interesting relocating to Edmond page with general information and follow-on useful links. It's a good place to start, but frankly not as interesting as their no-longer-available Residents Guide was. That's progress for ya.
